The **DMT Diamond Sharpening Steel DS0F** is a sharpening steel to quickly sharpen your blunt knives. The sharpening steel has a diameter of 9 mm. The cap on the tip of the sharpening steel ensures that, as you sharpen your knife, you can put the sharpening steel on your countertop without it slipping.

## Grain size DMT Sharpening Steel Fine

The sharpening steel has a grain size of 25 micron. This corresponds with a Japanese sharpening stone of approx. J500 Japanese grit. This grain size provides you with quick results and a very sharp edge. These fast results also ensure you don't have to sharpen your knives on a daily basis. Once a week is enough. The sharpening steel is enhanced with a layer of monocrystalline, synthetic diamonds. Monocrystalline means that each diamond is comprised of one crystal. Unlike polycrystalline diamonds, monocrystalline diamond does not wear out as fast. As such it is great for a sharpening steel! 

## How to use the DMT Sharpening Steel

You can use the DMT sharpening steels with or without water. The advantage of sharpening with water is that the steel is lubricated and the sharpening residue is removed. It's also good to know that a diamond-coated sharpening steel needs to be pre-sharpened. At first it might feel coarse, but this will become less after using the steel a couple times, after which it will have its desired effect. 

## Handle DMT Sharpening steel

The handle is made from a strong plastic and has a high protective edge. This does not only protect your hand as you sharpen your knife, it also ensures you have enough grip. The back of the sharpening steel is enhanced with a plastic ring you can use to hang the sharpening steel.
