The **Edge Pro Matrix 450 diamond sharpening stone** is a resin-bound sharpening stone. This means that the diamond particles in the sharpening stone are embedded in a layer of synthetic resin. During sharpening, new diamond particles are exposed each time, so the stone will always give the same results, both in terms of sharpness and speed. 

Use this 450-grit stone after you've used the 80-grit or 250-grit Matrix sharpening stones. For the best result, use the 950-grit or 1700-grit Edge Pro Matrix sharpening stones after this one.

Because of the synthetic diamond particles in this sharpening stone, it's very suitable for sharpening very hard types of steel, like powder steel. With this Edge Pro sharpening stone you can even sharpen ceramic knives. You use this sharpening stone in combination with water. Clean the stone after use with soap or alcohol.

## Wear-resistant stones: no lapping necessary

The advantage of diamond sharpening stones is that they don't become hollow after use. As such you don't have to lap them. If you do wish to lap them or to really clean them, we recommend using the 240-grit silicon carbide sandpaper with a little bit of water on a flat surface.

It's also good to know that compared to sharpening on 'regular' sharpening stones, sharpening on a diamond sharpening stone is a lot faster. Please note: the hard material does not require a rough treatment. It is not necessary to apply excessive force. It would negatively affect the quality and lifespan of the stone.

## Pre-sharpen diamond-coated stones

It is also good to know that a diamond-coated sharpening stone must be sharpened as well. At first they will have quite an abrasive effect. After sharpening five or ten times a diamond stone will work best!
