The Fenix UC30 2017 edition is a very compact, rechargeable flashlight for everyday use. This version of the Fenix UC30 can be recharged using a micro-USB cable. Great because this type of cable is available almost anywhere. The charging and battery status are visible through a red-green indication in the switch.
Fenix UC30: the 2017 edition
This 2017 edition of the very popular brand Fenix has been given a couple of updates. For instance, the switch on the side is made from a more sustainable bronze-coloured metal. The rubber seal for the micro-USB port is light-green and subtly glows in the dark. The purple and black version of this seal are also included. In addition, Fenix has replaced the LED with the popular Cree XP-L Hi V3 LED light. This LED light offers you a slightly more bundled beam which increases the maximum reach from 204 to 253 according to the ANSI-norm. This does, however, mean that your beam will be slightly narrower. Furthermore, Fenix has added an additional light mode giving you five permanent modes between 5 and 1000 lumen.
This flashlight can be used with both CR123A batteries and rechargeable 18650 batteries (only button-tops!). Each Fenix flashlight comes with a 2600mAh 8650 battery.
If there is one flashlight you can award with the title ‘all-rounder’ it should be the Fenix UC30. This flashlight is small enough to carry with you, and has enough light and modes to be perfect during most circumstances.
The light settings on the Fenix UC30 2017 edition:
- Turbo (1000 ANSI lumens, 1 hour and 25 minutes)
- High (350 ANSI lumens, 3 hours and 20 minutes)
- Mid (150 ANSI lumens, 8 hours and 45 minutes)
- Low (50 ANSI lumens, 28 hours and 25 minutes)
- Lower (5 ANSI lumens, 150 hours)

Please note: before use you need to remove the black disk in between the battery and the case. Simply screw off the back of the light and it will fall out. This is the transport lock.
Finally, the security system of this light is so clever it will make sure that the light will automatically switch back from Turbo to High mode after approximately 3 minutes to prevent overheating.
