I would advise against ordering this product through knivesandtools. They were very dismissive and patronising about issues I raised with the axe I was sent. I have since been in contact with the manufacturer and they have sent me a replacement. I will not be using this website again. Check out their recent reviews on trust pilot, you will find numerous unhappy customers.

Well, when you buy the best your expectations are sky high. Overall very good built. Some small imperfections on the axe head but this is what you get from forging it by hand. Cutting edge of the axe is shiny-mirror polished and rather sharp but not razor sharp (which is not necessary for an axe). Excellent handle, nicely finished and equally good thick oiled leather axe cover (remember to keep it regularly greased). Axe mount on handle is flawless and looks sturdy. What else ? With tools like these the true quality/reliability test can't be done after purchase. Ask me 10 years from now. I'll be able to tell you whether paying 5 times the price of other (industrially built) axes was worth it.

Lovely small axe, light but surprisingly capable when it's good and sharp. It arrives pretty sharp, mine had a slightly uneven grind so some minutes with a file but no problem. It's really securely made. I used oil on the handle and it's gone darker in colour and is now really beautiful to look at. The sheath bit is really nice, I've never hung it on my belt so can't comment on the security of the sheath but really good quality. I've used this for kindling and snedding small stuff and it's really nice to use. I don't feel the need to reshape the handle, although I know other people sometimes do. It's a bit small to do some things with so I have a forestry axe too but for travelling and bushcraft this, alongside a decent knife, would do most things. A perfect shelter building, kindling cutting fireside companion, and light enough to justify taking with you. I really like mine!
