We had a small Global knife for kitchen work for some years but never bought the expensive sharpening tool and used a sharpening stone instead. The knife was never as good again as when new so recently I decided to fork out on the very expensive sharpening tool. A revelation. After a very short time and a few sharpening operations the knife was back to its original sharpness, or near to it. It is also a matter of a minute or so to sharpen and can be done regularly, unlike using the sharpening stone which is a bigger operation and therefore only got done irregularly. I thoroughly recommend the specialist tool, but the price is eye-watering.

Used this a couple of times since I bought it, really pleased with the way it sharpens up my old knives, you sometimes have to go through the process a few times if the knife is really blunt, but it's worth the effort in the long run.
