Bought this for late night dog walking. Normally walk with no torch on, so when doing the necessary and socially correct (involving bending down with a hand inside a plastic bag) the low beam is more than adequate, When checking "what have you found there?" the second is enough. When approached by out of control dogs, third beam is a good deterrent, and out of control owners do NOT like the strobe mode. That leaves high beam in reserve just in case. And all of this from the closed palm of my hand. I love it !

This is a fantastic torch for the money. It sits well in the hand and the feel is that of a very good build quality. I was told that square threads were the way to go but the threads on this seem very sturdy and not ptone to mis-threading. They are also greased to aid with the waterproofing so remember to re-grease over time (not oil). Spare grommets are provided which is good. The light options seem great for the expected usage of each and so far max output is more than I have needed so can't comment overly there. Possibly if the low option was 10 lumen instead of 3 it would be more useful as an in tent hanging reading light but good enough to see water bottles etc. On the whole a fantastic torch but I wish I had seen the GT first as I would have paid the £20 extra for 3 extra light modes and additional ~90m throw distance.
