A decent mid weight bruiser, nicely balanced weight and a good wedge shape for all your regular splitting needs. The handle would be better if it was stained and oiled instead of painted and varnished in my humble opinion. Good enough at this price all the same.

An excellent splitter. High quality steel and solid hafting. I bought this 2.5kg Ochsenkopf based on the effectiveness of the 1.25kg one on smaller rounds, also bought from K&T. The 2.5kg is more effective on bigger rounds than a 3.5kg splitting maul, due I think to the broader head than that on the maul. More than makes up for the lighter weight. Splits 30cm rounds with ease. Arrived sharp and very well packed. As for K&T, they were the lowest price for the delivered item by a good margin - always the best service and value. May be safely recommended.

Bought as a gift, it fits the bill perfectly. Well made and sharp too which isn’t always the case with a splitting axe. Good feel whilst splitting 15 inch logs. Delivery time good and was able to track the package all the way

Very capable splitting thick logs. Well engineered. Would prefer handle 3 inches longer. The one up from this one has longer handle but axe head too heavy for me.
