This **Ontario Old Hickory butcher's knife** is available with three blade lengths: 18 cm, 25 cm and 35 cm. Each perfect when gutting game and precisely removing the bones. The belly of this remarkably shaped blade is quite large to make sure you can quickly get the job done. The larger the blade, the larger the piece of meat you can use it on. Use this knife when cutting, trimming, skinning or portioning different types of meat. 


The blade is made from 1095 carbon steel. Tough and easy to sharpen, and it retains its sharpness well. Exactly what you want. Do, however, be careful with moisture and acids: 1095 is not completely stainless. It will as such form a [patina](/en/ct/what-is-patina-on-a-knife.htm). Clean it after use and occasionally add a couple drops of oil to the blade, otherwise it can start to rust. If you carefully build the patina the knife will only look better in time and become truly unique. The handle of this knife is made from dark hard wood, secured with brass pins. A classic combination.



## Ontario Old Hickory Knives


Old Hickory knives have been produced ever since the twenties. Little changed through the years. As such it is one of the longest produced knife collections on the market today. Affordability and how easy the knife is to sharpen come first. You shouldn't be surprised when you see a scratch or spot. Sometimes they are also not as sharp as they can be upon delivery, and because of the carbon steel they will discolour and even rust. That finish matches the price. Old Hickory knives are used in kitchens, but recently they are also becoming more and more popular in the outdoor kitchen. Because of their rough, robust design they are popular amongst BBQ enthusiasts who look for tough products. With it Ontario demonstrates that even after 100 years the Old Hickory is still fashionable.

Conforme au produit commandé. J'ai arrondi le manche et un petit affilage est nécessaire.

Super qualité prix et super couteau avec une superbe finition 

Eenvoudig mes voldoet aan verwachting. Komt niet heel scherp uit de verpakking maar dan heb je wat te doen op een regenachtige dag.

Op dit mes heb ik lang gewacht. Op een enkel mes na, is het bij mij in de keuken niet echt bijzonder qua snijden. Dat geeft me dan weer een reden om iets uit de kast te pakken. 

Met deze Old Hickory is dat nu even anders. Dit is wel een degelijk mes om je uit te leven. Het is zoals de naam al aangeeft een slagersmes. Uiteraard kan je ook je champignonnetjes er mee snijden maar dit mes heeft een stevig om niet te zeggen dik lemmet. Niet direct geschikt voor vlies dunne plakjes paddestoel wel voor je beenham, kip, kalkoen of zelfs T-bone steak. 

Het is de duidelijk een gebruikerswens bedoeld om veel en vaak te gebruiken. Niet fijntjes afgewerkt, geen high tec materiaal, geen design gadgets, gewoon koolstof staal met een houten greep.

Vaak heb je niet meer nodig.
