With this **Shapton Pro Stone grain 220** you can sharpen quickly and evenly. This ceramic Japanese sharpening stone has a grit size of 220, which is fairly coarse. The sharpening stone quickly removes material, Perfect when restoring a damaged edge. The stone is suited for sharpening almost all types of knives. From outdoor knives to kitchen knives, from pocket knives to chisels.

## Shapton Pro Stones

In Japan, these colourful Shapton Pro sharpening stones are also known as *Shapton Ha-No-Kuromaku*. They are Shapton's thickest sharpening stones, with a thickness of 15 mm. As befits Shapton, each stone is beautifully homogeneous in structure, with evenly distributed ceramic sharpening particles. This ensures a really even sharpening result. Because the stones are quite hard, they quickly remove material and they take a long time to wear down.

## Shapton Pro Stones: grit sizes and colours

The Shapton Pro sharpening stones are available in various grit sizes. Each of these grit sizes has a corresponding colour, so you can quickly see which stone you need. 

With the Shapton Pro Stones, you have the right stone for every step of the sharpening process. From restoring an edge with the coarse grit 120 stone, through to polishing the edge with a super fine grit 12,000 stone. 

## How to use Shapton Pro Stones

Every Shapton Pro sharpening stone is *splash & go*: simply sprinkle a bit of water onto the stone and you can start sharpening. You'll notice that the stone removes material pretty quickly. This gives you speedy results, and also means the stone wears down less quickly. These stones do not need to be soaked except the very first time after purchase. We do recommend that on first use, you pre-soak the stone in water for five to six minutes to secure even smoother sharpening.

After use, clean the stone with water and leave it to dry. Don't try to speed up the drying process with a fan or heater - give the stone time to dry naturally. After it has dried completely, you can put it back in the corresponding storage box.

If used frequently, the stone will hollow out over time. A lapping plate can solve this problem in no time, leaving the stone as flat as a billiard cloth once again.

## Multifunctional protective box

This Shapton Pro Stone is delivered in an ochre yellow plastic storage box, which matches the colour of the sharpening stone. The box isn't just useful for storing the stone. The top is namely enhanced with raised edges. The stone fits exactly in between those edges. This means you can also use the box as a sharpening stone holder. The non-slip feet on the bottom mean that it won't slide while you're sharpening. Finally, there are ventilation holes on the bottom, so you can store the sharpening stone without any worries, even if the sharpening stone doesn't appear to be fully dry. These details make all the difference.
