The **Victorinox Skipper** is a large pocket knife, designed for sailing. It contains different tools that are widely known, but also a tool that specifically comes in handy when sailing. It, for instance, contains a shackle opener and a marlin spike. You use a marlin spike to loosen knots.



Th handle is made from blue plastic. In typical maritime style, it features the image of a compass.

De Skipper heeft natuurlijk de marrelpriem. Erg bruikbaar en het werkt echt! Bij wat dunnere touwen (tot 12 á 15 mm?) is het makkelijk om knopen te lossen. Geen scherpe randjes zoals bij een feitelijke priem of een mes. Je zou in feite het voorste oog kunnen gebruiken bij het leggen van knopen, maar dat heb ik nog niet geprobeerd.
We hebben het mes gebruikt bij het bouwen van hindernissen voor een 'surivalrun'. Daarbij zijn de D-ringen zo groot dat het achterste deel van de marrelpriem niet bruikbaar is. Maar gezien de verlenging van je krachtbron zal het goed werken om deze te gebruiken op de sluitingen van kleinere D-ringen.
Overigens ben ik geen fan van (deels) gekartelde messen, maar dat is een persoonlijke voorkeur.

Geweldige aankoop! Ik kocht m voor de marrelpriem, en deze blijkt uitstekend te werken. Je kunt erg goed door knopen heen steken en dat is handig bij zowel het vastbinden en het losmaken van een knoop. Met paracord niet dikker dan 550 is erg goed te werken met deze tool. Tijdens m'n werk als schilder, tijdens boswandelingen of op reis, ik heb m altijd op tuk want hij komt vaak goed van pas. Moet wel zeggen dat hij aan de zware kant is. Schoonhouden is ook belangrijk. Maar ìk ben er erg blij met deze Victorinox-versie. Groet jvdk.
