The bread knife test
A good bread knife is indispensable in every kitchen. It can, after all, cut a lot more than just bread. Pies and cakes, for instance. Or hard fruits and vegetables such as melon or pumpkin. We were curious to find out which bread knives would suit us best. So we put them to the test! Below you will find our favourites.

Kai Shun Bread Knife
This Kai Shun came out best in our test! The serrations have a wavy shape. As such this knife will easily cut through hard bread. It also looks amazing.

Robert Herder 9213197504 Grandmoulin bread knife
An amazing knife that was completely made by hand. Sharpened according to the traditional ‘Solinger Dünnschliff’ principle. As such it is razor-sharp and so good that famous culinary journalist Wouter Klootwijk named it 'the best bread knife in the world'. And we are also fans! The convex shape enables you to slightly rock the knife, and with the high blade you can cut thin slices of bread.

Eden Classic Damast bread knife 20 cm
This is the knife with the best price-quality ratio. A stunning knife for an amazing price. The classic serrations easily cut through the bread. And the serrations do not extend all the way up to the tip. This was deliberately done; you want to use that tip to cut through the last part of the crust. And that works best if the tip is smooth!

Messermeister Future 22-02034 bread knife, 31 cm
This knife is not only amazing to use, it is also sustainably and climate-neutrally produced. The blade is made from recycled stainless steel. The handle is made from FSC-certified beech wood. The knife is enhanced with a long blade, great when cutting large vegetables and fruit. Thanks to the rounded tip you can also use it as a pastry knife.

The Eden Pankiri is a Japanese bread knife. It is very thin over the entire width to make sure the cutting resistance is low. As such you end up with less crumbs. The half tang construction ensures that the knife is nice and lightweight.
