The **Fällkniven F1 F1nz Pilot Survial Knife** is a top-quality survival knife, specifically designed for pilots from the Swedish air force. It took 8 years to develop this model. The result of many tests and changing the design is an advanced, well thought-out and safe knife which combines strength with a modern design. The Fällkniven F1 is versatile and can be used while hunting, camping or during trekking or survival adventures.

## Fällkniven F1nz blade

The blade is made from, the in 2022 introduced, VGWolf steel. An upgraded version of the previous VG10W steel. VGWolf has a high concentration of tungsten (1.25%) The result is a better sharpness retention and the steel is a little tougher. The steel is laminated in between two layers of softer steel. As such, the F1 retains its sharpness well, while at the same time it is a lot tougher than with a mono-steel construction.

The edge of the Fällkniven F1 is enhanced with a convex grind. This means that the blade is curved towards the edge. The result is an incredibly strong and sharp edge. To maintain this edge we recommend stropping it in time.

## Fällkniven F1nz handle

The handle is made from Thermorun. This is a rubber-like plastic that offers you enough grip. The fact that Fällkniven took the arctic climate of Sweden into account is clear when you look at the construction of the handle. The tang of the blade, the steel part that is located in the handle, is wrapped in Thermorun. As a result your hands won't freeze to the knife in very low temperatures. Even in the heat this works well because your hands won't burn if the knife was left in the sun for a while. So very well-thought-out.

This version of the F1 comes with a nice Zytel sheath. The two-stage locking mechanism is a new feature. There's no strap around the handle like with previous A1 sheaths. The Zytel sheath has a sleek look with an opening at the bottom for drainage.

Toll gemachtes Messer! Schön schnitthaltig und ab Werk SCHARF. Das Messer hat seitens Fällkniven ein Update bekommen und es befindet sich eine Verriegelung an der Scheide. In der alten Scheide haben die F1 früher gerne geklappert. Das ist hiermit wirkungsvoll unterbunden. Was mir auffällt: Ich habe Handschuhgröße 8,5 und finde den Griff passend aber mit Tendenz zu "klein" Es ist nicht zu klein, für mich ist es genau passend. Für Riesenpranken wäre mir das F1 jedoch deutlich zu klein vom Griff.

Ich habe das Messer schon viel benutzt und mag es wirklich sehr gerne. Das nächste Fällkniven ist schon in Planung :)
