## Blade made of carbon steel

The blade of the Narex Halfround Rasp 872521, halfround wood rasp, 16x150 mm is made from carbon steel. As the name suggests, this steel has a very high carbon content. Carbon contributes to the sharpness and a significant part of the edge retention. However, carbon steel is not corrosion resistant. It discolours quite easily and can even rust if not properly maintained. The main advantage of carbon steel is that it is very easy to sharpen.
