first i looked at the Steiner Commander with Compass, insanely expensive i quickly rejected them. i liked the 7x30 for the more compact size, they are undoubtedly a well made and quality item. things i dont like i was told they had a graduated reticule (not by knives and tools i might add) they have a sort of small pointer instead for aiming at your point of reference, i would have liked the eye cups to protrude more as i have to mess around with eye relief you get a good picture by holding just off my eyes which doesnt work when you are trying to use one handed, same can be said of the compass, you have to actively move the binoculars down so you can see the compass bearing. i will be keeping them as they satisfy my intended use of taking back bearings but i have to say i own better binoculars.
