This **Tojiro Zen Black chef's knife 18 cm** is a stunning knife. More importantly: this knife is amazing to use. Because of the relatively short blade you can easily use it. The 18 cm long blade is slightly shorter than the average chef's knife. As a result this chef's knife is perfect for cutting small to average size products.


## Tojiro Zen Black blade


For knives there is always a compromise between hardness (sharp, but brittle and less stainless) and flexible (less sharp and less brittle, more stainless). Tojiro opted for a multi-layer construction. The core is made from VG10 steel surrounded by 13-chrome steel. This leaves you with a unique combination of hardness and a much higher corrosion-resistance than with carbon steel. The black oxidized finish of the blade makes the blade look amazing. 


## Tojiro Zen Black handle


The handle is made from light-weight dark-coloured chestnut wood. It is enhanced with a traditional Japanese D-shape. This is a right-handed knife, but left-handed users won't be bothered by this asymmetry.
