Full description
The kitchen knives of the Pro series by Zwilling have a blade that is forged from 1 piece of steel. The blade runs entirely in the plastic handle: a ' full tang ' construction. The handle is attached to the steel with 3 rivets. The transition between handle and metal is seamless. This means no crack which collects dirt. These knives have a classic design and are particularly attractive to those who love a heavier type of knife.

This is my second Santoku knife from Knives and Tools. The Zwilling knife is slightly larger and slighter heavier than my Wusthoff Santoku but this is fine. I like the knife for it's weight and ease of use. It is ideal for chopping herbs and vegetables as well as for general cutting.

The Zwilling Pro Granton Santoku knife, identified by model number 38408-181, stands out as a remarkable addition to Zwilling J.A. Henckels' renowned collection. This knife seamlessly combines the elegant design principles of Japanese Santoku knives with the precision engineering synonymous with German craftsmanship. The term "Santoku" translates to "three virtues" or "three uses" in Japanese, reflecting its versatility in slicing, dicing, and mincing tasks. Distinctive Features and Benefits: Blade Material and Craftsmanship: The knife boasts a meticulously forged blade crafted from Zwilling's exclusive high-carbon stainless steel blend. This steel undergoes an ice-hardening process to optimize its longevity, resistance to corrosion, and edge retention capabilities. With an approximate length of 18 cm (7 inches), the blade strikes a perfect balance between flexibility and control. Granton Edge Design: A notable feature of this Santoku knife is its Granton edge, characterized by hollowed-out indentations along the blade's surface. These unique grooves facilitate smoother slicing by minimizing food adhesion, allowing for more efficient cutting and reduced drag. Comfortable and Balanced Handle: Designed with user comfort in mind, the knife's handle offers an ergonomic grip that ensures optimal balance during use. Constructed from a durable synthetic material, the handle is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. The classic three-rivet design not only enhances the knife's visual appeal but also reinforces its structural integrity. Multi-purpose Utility: In line with the Santoku knife tradition, this blade excels in a variety of kitchen tasks, including chopping, slicing, and mincing. Its versatile design makes it well-suited for handling a range of ingredients, from vegetables and fruits to meats and fish. Optimized Edge Geometry: The Zwilling Pro Granton Santoku is sharpened to a precise angle that strikes an ideal balance between sharpness and resilience. This meticulous edge honing process, part of Zwilling's proprietary sharpening technique, ensures enduring sharpness and consistent cutting performance. Care and Maintenance: To preserve the knife's edge and aesthetic appeal, it is advisable to hand wash the knife rather than subjecting it to dishwasher cleaning. Routine honing using a quality honing steel will help maintain the edge's sharpness, while periodic professional sharpening is recommended to restore the blade's optimal cutting performance. Brand Legacy and Warranty: With a storied history dating back to 1731, Zwilling J.A. Henckels has earned a reputation for excellence and integrity in the cutlery industry. The knife is backed by a comprehensive warranty, underscoring the brand's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The Zwilling Pro Granton Santoku knife exemplifies Zwilling's ability to merge traditional aesthetics with modern functionality, offering culinary enthusiasts a versatile tool that excels in both performance and elegance. Whether you're engaged in intricate vegetable preparation, precise meat slicing, or delicate herb chopping, this Santoku knife is engineered to deliver exceptional results with finesse and efficiency.
