The **Böker Plus Atlas Backlock Sheepfoot** is a handy EDC pocket knife to carry with you every day with excellent value for money. The sheepfoot blade shape is known for its great cutting properties. Because of the straight line of the edge, the knife cuts very nicely. A real slicer!

Böker enhanced the Atlas with a rock-solid stainless steel handle. Nice and simple, and very strong. The blade is made from D2 steel. A strong type of tool steel that has been a part of the knife world for years. It is an excellent steel for this price range. It stays sharp for a long time, it can take a beating, and it's easy to sharpen. Unfortunately, it's not entirely stainless, so take care around moisture and acids. Many people don't mind this tiny drawback though, as this type of steel offers many advantages. The knife is fitted with a sturdy pocket clip, which is also made of stainless steel.

Ik heb iets met kleine mesjes. Niks mis met grote messen maar die zijn  in een stedelijke omgeving niet altijd even praktisch. Zelden dat je zelf eerst een boom moet omhakken om met paperclips en cellotape je eigen terrasstoel in elkaar te moeten MacGyveren. Een klein mesje voldoet doorgaans uitstekend. 
Deze Atlas is een uitstekend voorbeeld van wat ik inmiddels a fifth pocket knife zou willen noemen, een mesje voor in dat kleine zakje  boven de rechterzak van je spijkerbroek. Dus een functioneel lemmet groot genoeg voor de meeste dagelijkse dingen zoals een appeltje snijden maar dun genoeg om niet te zorgen voor een onhandige bobbel. 
Vooral dat laatst is heel goed geslaagd. Die Atlas is één van de dunste messen die ik heb maatwerk met een greep die voldoende houvast biedt. Het lemmet is groter dan een standaard schilmesje en dat voldoet bij sommige mensen voor een volledig 6 gangen diner.

Ik ken alleen weinig weinig schilmesjes met D2 staal
En nog minder die zo goed in elkaar zitten
