Fantastic versatile axe, split seasoned oak for the firepit with ease. Very comfortable and light, size is a good compromise but if splitting large logs suggest it would be easier with a bigger size. Can't recommend fiskars gear enough and the ordering and delivery was spot on.

I've split logs by hand for over twenty treats now. The Fiskars X series cannot be beaten. I like ar tool that does what it sets out to do and does it well. This axe, the X17 it's a mix weight axe abs it flies thorough logs. The light weight along with perfect hafted handle allow a really fast swing abs the hooked end of the handle lend s a perfect rotation at the end of the swing so that it minimises effort,looks after you're body,and diverts a really efficient production rate. In addition,it is actually light enough and well balanced enough to allow some one-handed use when necessary. I have bought 3 X-series axes for myself and three for family members as well as recommending them to a dozen friends. They all rave about them. I would recommend you also get the X-sharp sharpener to keep your edge in good condition, it's a no-brainer really, the sharper the edge,the deeper it penetrates,the easier it splits,the less work you do.
