This Opinel No. 8 pocket knife from the Luxury Tradition series is 19.0 cm long and weighs 50 grams. It is ideal for trekking, picnics, barbecues, hunting and fishing. A real EDC pocket knife that can be used for everything! 


## Virobloc lock


The knife has a Virobloc lock, also known as a ring lock. With a Virobloc, the hinges of the blade are firmly blocked by the ring. This type of locking system requires two hands, which means your fingers are less likely to come near the cutting edge. The ring is often also used to lock the knife when closed. Occasionally add a drop of oil to make sure the ring will keep turning smoothly.


## Steel


The blade is made from stainless Sandvik 12C27 steel, which is extremely durable thanks to the addition of chrome. A small amount of carbon has also been added to the steel. These knives really are razor-sharp. The blade is polished to a high gloss, resulting in a beautiful mirror effect. This gives the knife a very stylish look.


## Handle material


The handle is made from padauk, a reddish brown wood from Central and West Africa. Please note: prolonged exposure to the sun can discolour the wood. As such, you should always store your knife away from sunlight after use. That way, you can enjoy this beautiful knife for longer!


## Accessories and maintenance


To keep enjoying your Opinel pocket knife for a long time, maintenance is essential. A drop of Ballistol oil prevents the wood from drying out and ensures that it won't lose its colour. Don't forget to oil the hinges as well. This keeps the ring running smoothly. You can make the blade razor-sharp again with Opinel's sharpening stones. Verwacht geen hoge kwaliteit, want daar is de prijs ook naar.

Ik blijf mij verbazen over de prijs-kwaliteit verhouding van de Opinel zakmessen. Deze "luxe"-uitvoering heeft een zeer traditionele uitstraling en een spiegelglans lemmet. Ik vond de oude Virobloc, die langs twee zijden te vergrendelen was, net iets leuker dan de nieuwe, die ook de gesloten toestand vergrendelt. Scheermesscherp uit het doosje. Heb er gelijk een draagtasje bij besteld.
