This breakfast knife by Robert Herder is a characteristic German breakfast knife in the so-called 'Buckels' shape. The very thin blade is made of carbon steel. This is traditionally grinded very thin (' Dünnschliff '). The result is a very sharp knife, easy to maintain. The down side to carbon steel is that it is more sensitive to rust than stainless steel, which means that the knife should be well maintained. Suitable for cutting e.g. bread, cheese, salami and for spreading butter on bread.

Gebruik al jaren deze mesjes bij het ontbijt in de rvs uitvoering tot grote tevredenheid. 
Voor het snijden en smeren in de keuken gebruik ik de carbon versie, net iets scherper te krijgen, maar ook iets sneller bot, dus wat vaker slijpen. 
Dat ze sneller oxideren dus minder mooi blijven is in de keuken niet belangrijk. Topprodukt!

Robert Herder Buckels is mijns inziens het beste ontbijtmes dat men kan kopen. Prachtig houten heft dat goed in de hand ligt, schitterend dun carbonstalen lemmet waarmee men boter en beleg op brood kan smeren maar waarmee men ook een tomaat in plakjes kan snijden. Zelfs te gebruiken als steakmes. 
Zeer scherp uit de verpakking en gemakkelijk te slijpen. 

Usually very happy with this brand but after using it once it already rusts and cannot be cleaned properly anymore...
