Schrade Frontier 5" Fixed Blade SCHF36, 1095 Carbon Steel, fixed knife with sharpening steel and firesteel

I bought the Schrade Frontier 5" Fixed Blade SCHF36, 1095 Carbon Steel, fixed knife with sharpening steel and firesteel and recently found myself needing to cut up a small dogfish for bait. So I thought lets try the the Schrade knife (for the first time) but it could not cut through the skin! Luckily I had also ordered the Mora Fishing Comfort Fillet 155, 13869 filleting knife (substantially cheaper than the Schrade) which sliced through without any issues. Yes a Dogfish has tough shark skin but the Schrade should have been able to do the job. So, my question is, are these knives delivered with a perfectly honed blade as one would expect? I can only assume they are not. If this is correct then surely this should have been made clear at point of purchase. I expected the knife to be ready to go and razor sharp. Knive and Tools have responded saying that's how they received the product from the manufacturer so with no futher effort from them to raise thre issue I will forward my issue to Schrade directly

Excellent value. This SRK performs well and is very comfortable is use. Taking heavy shavings, feather-sticking or batoning are all very effective and directly comparable to SRK's at more than 3 times this price. Holds a good edge. Strikes well on a fire steel. I was concerned that the exposed tang on the but isn't on the centreline if striking during tip drilling, but it doesn't cause any issues at all. Mine cam with a small and effective diamond sharpener and fire steel in the functional sheath - unbeatable value. Fast delivery from K&T as usual. So, an all round great review from me.
