The ESEE Model 5 is a solid survival knife with a blade of 1095 carbon steel. The extremely durable powder coating on the blade helps protect against the larger rust susceptibility known to carbon steel. The great performance of the steel guarantee a life long pleasure. The full tang blade features a micarta handle. This handgrip feels somewhat rough, which is good for grip and comfort. The ESEE Model 5 is a large and solid knife that can endure extreme heavy use. If the dimensions and the weight are too much for you, than the Model 3 or Model 4 are smaller alternatives.  
   


The ergonomics are excellent. The handle is equipped with an elevation for your index finger. The length of the handle is very spacious. Also large hands have all the space they can wish for. The top of the blade has ridges where your thumb will find a good place. That way the knife is easier to steer. The back of the knife has a large hole for a lanyard. And the point functions as a glass breaker.  
   


The handgrip has a hollow in the surface: the 'bow drill divot'. That is intended to make fire. You use a wooden stick and spin this arround quickly by the help of a bow. It needs a wooden base and some flammable material. It is the most basic way of making fire, but it can work amazingly well. In any case, you can conclude that with the Model 5 you are prepared for everything.

J'ai pris ce couteau afin de fendre des bûches pour mon bois de chauffage... et il est parfait ! C'est du solide, lame traversante et manche micarta de grande qualité. Fait pour le batonnage. Rasoir en sortie de boîte, nettoyage au wd40 et affûtage facile. Étui kydex parfait !

Hello! Voici un couteau-outil très robuste et bien proportionné pour un usage intensif trekking-camp par tous temps. Il se situe par sa taille dans le milieu de gamme des fameux couteaux de survie ESEE. Son étui kydex est très bien conçu. La lame est épaisse et facile à affûter. Attention, un peu lourd mais bon, on verra à l'usage!

Le couteau est d’excellente facture on le tient en main de manière intuitive

Bah un Esee 5, et OD green, suis accro, c'est un monstre, typé fort survie, équipé de plusieurs accessoires, il est encore plus beau!
Il fait tout sans broncher! Rasoir en sortie de boîte! Une petite DC4 le suis en sortie, mais pas encore eu besoin de le retoucher!
