Buying a Wuben torch

Wuben calls its approach Easy Carry Light: light you take along without a second thought. You can tell by the sizes. The torches are small and light enough for your pocket or your keyring, yet they put out more light than many far bigger torches. Almost everything in the range charges over USB-C, so you need no charging dock and no loose batteries.

Who might find this interesting? Anyone who needs light on a daily basis, from working in the fuse box to an evening walk with the dog. We test all products ourselves, so when you buy from us, you’re only getting the models that we’d choose for ourselves.

Maintenance is simple. Keep the threads and the charging port clean and dry, and top up the battery now and then if you have not used the torch for a while. That keeps the waterproofing intact and you will enjoy your torch for years.

Wuben series

Wuben classifies its products by letter series, and that classification also helps you choose. Here is what you can expect from each series.

A series

The powerhouses: the A22 delivers 4,500 lumens at 220 grams, the A9 12,000 lumens and the A1 20,000 lumens with a beam distance of 2.5 kilometres. At nearly 2.9 kilograms, the latter is a searchlight rather than a pocket flashlight.

C series

The Wuben C3 is the classic 18650 tube light with a tactical switch at the rear, which you can also operate while wearing gloves.

E series

The EDC range. The Wuben E7 is a pocket-sized tube light with 1,800 lumens, the E8 is a modular camping and EDC light, and the E19 is a 45-gram penlight, available in a high-CRI version and a version with 365 nm UV light.

F series

The F5 is a camping light that also works as a power bank: soft, wide light for inside the tent, while charging your phone.

G series

At 52 grams, the Wuben G5 hangs from your keyring and offers white, red, green and blue light.

H series

The head torches: the H1 delivers 1,200 lumens on an 18650 battery, while the H4 weighs 80 grams and is designed for hunting.

L series

Tactical EDC torches. The L1 has two light sources and is also available with a Nichia LED for natural colour rendering, the L3 delivers 3,000 lumens, and the L50 is the compact version.

T series

Outdoor torches with more power. The T1 reaches 498 metres on a single 18650 battery, while the T70 prioritises light output over beam distance with 4,200 lumens on a 26650 battery.

X series

The most versatile torches. The Wuben X4 has four controls, the X1 Pro is the powerhouse with 12,300 lumens on a 21700 battery, the X2 Pro is the compact 14500 version, and the X5 is a 3-in-1. With a separate bicycle mount, you can also fit them to your handlebars.

Outside the letter series are the PL01, a rechargeable 45-gram penlight with 650 lumens, and the P26, which combines white light with 365 nm UV light.

Batteries and accessories for your Wuben

The torches are accompanied by separate 14500, 18350, 18650, 21700 and 26650 batteries, extension tubes that allow a torch to run on a larger battery, diffusers, holsters and bicycle mounts. This lets you configure your torch to suit how you use it.

About Wuben

The factory behind Wuben has been operating since 1981 and made torches for major international brands for decades. In 2016, the company registered its own brand and began selling under the name Wuben. In our view, that background as a manufacturer for others explains much of the build quality: smoothly running threads and well-sealing O-rings.

The brand's guiding principle is Easy Carry Light, born from the question of why a good torch always had to be large and heavy.
