The **Fällkniven F1 Pro** is the improved version of the well-known Fällkniven F1: the pilot knife of the Swedish air force. For years this has been a very popular knife amongst outdoor enthusiasts. The convex edge is very sharp and very strong. Cutting wood and many other tasks will become a piece of cake. The Fällkniven F1 Pro is an all-round fixed knife that can withstand the most extreme circumstances. The thermorun handle offers enough good grip, even with wet hands. The tang of the blade runs all the way to the pommel, for optimal strength. 

 Although many believe the Fällkniven F1 to be the ultimate large survival knife, Fällkniven felt there was still some room for improvement. That is why the Fällkniven F1 Pro was developed.

 ## Differences Fällkniven Pro-series

 The Fällkniven Pro-collection is the long awaited successor to the very popular regular F1, A1 and S1. The VG10 core was replaced by top-quality CoS cobalt steel. This type of steel is even better when it comes to sharpness retention and won't chip as easily. The entire blade is also thicker for an even stronger knife. This is not only the case with the visible (cutting) part of the blade, the tang is also larger and thicker. The thermorun finger guard was replaced by a steel finger guard, for more firmness and an improved balance. But that is not all, the convex grind of the blade was also improved.

## Fällkniven’s convex grind


Like all fixed Fällkniven knives this knife was enhanced with a convex grind. This has important advantages. A convex edge, for instance, can be sharpened razor-sharp, is relatively stong and offers less cutting resistance. The 'shoulders' that are usually attached to a regular v-edge in the transition from the edge to the side of the blade, are missing. As such using a convex edge is absolutely amazing. The Fällkniven F1 Pro comes with a Zytel sheath. Fällkniven upgraded this as well by adding an additional retention lever. With it you can secure the knife in the sheath. As such it won't rattle, and you won't lose it. A nice upgrade!

Klasse product, voldoet aan al mijn eisen voor een vast mes en de aankoop bij Knives and Tools als vanouds goed, snel en professioneel. Ik had wat twijfel bij aankoop maar na een kort telefonisch contact prima uitleg gekregen en overgegaan tot de koop…geen seconde spijt. Gebruik hem ‘as we speak’  in Jasper Canada!

Well, it seems I am turning into a Fällkniven collector. Bought the F1 standard version first, liked it so much I added the F1x (full tang). This version, the Pro falls between those other two.

Same blade shape and thickness as the X, but same handle as the original version. That might make it redundant - except that it is quickly turning into the knife I am most likely to take with me.

Very comfortable, nimble and easy to use despite the thick spine, scaring sharp and with the usual tip top fit and finish. I was initially skeptical regarding the use of a convex grind (like high quality axes have), but the blade geometry makes this an excellent cutter, while maintaining very high edge stability.

Not cheap, but you do get one of the best knives available in the world.
