Laguiole en Aubrac Gourmet: elegant, handmade kitchen knives
The Laguiole en Aubrac Gourmet collection consists of elegant and handmade kitchen knives. You immediately recognize the knives by their large 'belly' and the pointy tip. Thanks to this shape, there's a lot of cutting edge for you to work with. The blade is thinner towards the tip, perfect for the more detailed tasks. These knives are made by hand in Espalion, France.
Features of the Laguiole en Aubrac Gourmet series
Laguiole en Aubrac Gourmet: stainless steel blade
The blade is made from stainless 12C27 Sandvik steel. A type of steel with a relatively high carbon content making the knife razor-sharp and rock-solid. Nevertheless, it isn't a steel that is prone to rust or get ugly spots. It's also easy to sharpen if the knife starts to lose some of its sharpness over time.
Laguiole en Aubrac Gourmet: ebony handle
Functionality is key, of course, but design is also important. The handle is made from ebony wood. This is a dark hardwood that doesn't just look beautiful, it's also highly resistant to moisture. Great for use in the kitchen. The handle is enhanced with additional decorations. The bolster is enhanced with the characterizing Laguiole bee.
The spine of the handle is embellished with file work that was applied by hand and the scales are attached with rivets. In the middle of the handle these rivets are shaped like a shepherd's cross. This cross refers to the legend of catholic shepherds who, during their crusades to Spain, wanted to pray far away from a church or chapel. They put the knife in the ground to say a prayer, with the cross facing towards them.
