Features of the Messermeister Meridian Elite series

Meridian Elite blade: polished by hand

The knives are forged from one piece of German 1.4116 stainless steel. The steel is hardened to a hardness of around 58 HRC. As a result, the knife retains its sharpness for a long time when used correctly. Manufacturers frequently make concessions in the polishing process to maintain a cost-effective pricing for their knives. However, polishing is exactly what makes Messermeister stand out with this series. Each blade is polished by hand on a fabric wheel. This gives the knife the sharpest possible edge, so it's razor sharp straight out of the box.

Meridian Elite handle

The full-tang design and three rivets in the handle is one of the sturdiest construction methods for a knife. In addition, the handle is made from POM (polyoxymethylene). This is an extremely strong plastic that is highly resistant to moisture, heat and wear. Another great feature of this collection is the half-bolsters. The bolster is the thick, metal part between the handle and the blade. With many German kitchen knives, the bolster extends into the edge, but not with the Meridian Elite series. This has a number of advantages: the blades are more lightweight, you're still able to use the entire length of the blade when you're using the knife and sharpening is easier.
