About Lodge Cast Iron
Lodge is a real family business. Today, the company is run by the fifth generation of Lodges! The factory was founded in 1896 in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Lodge can still be found here. Even though the classic techniques of over a hundred years ago are still used today, Lodge is constantly working on updating the production process and making it more eco-friendly. New, less polluting melting systems, recycled packaging and biodegradable packing materials. They reuse as much as possible.
Maintaining cast iron
During production, the pan is treated with vegetable oil based on soy. As a result, you end up with a natural non-stick coating. And each time you use a Lodge pan, this non-stick coating will only become better! You might think that maintaining a cast iron pan is a lot of work. Well, that is not the case at all! The pans are not dishwasher proof, but you can easily clean them with water and a little bit of soap. Dry it afterwards and rub a layer of oil over the surface. And that's it!
